Hans & Grietje Pancake House and Play Park is an oasis of coziness. We are situated on the edge of an enchanting forest, where the trees whisper and fairies dance in the moonlight. This is our story.
Once Upon a Time…
The fairy tale of farmers Hans and Griet (yes, that’s really their names) came true. They started a small Hans & Grietje house with ten places on the edge of the forest. Fun fact: this is still the starting point of the Breadcrumb Trail. In the little house, Hans and Griet sold ice cream made from their own cows’ milk, and soon added grandma’s apple pie. As the crowds grew, pancakes were introduced.
Over time, not only did the number of visitors increase, but so did the size of the restaurant. The pancake house was soon relocated to its current spot and underwent an impressive transformation, adding a play park for the little ones. However, a great tragedy struck us in July 2015, when a devastating fire engulfed the beloved restaurant. But like every fairy tale, Hans and Grietje did not sit idly by…
And they lived happily ever after.
Construction of the current building began in 2016—a majestic pancake restaurant that excels in both design and atmosphere. Our guests don’t call Hans & Grietje “the most magical pancake house in the Netherlands” for nothing. By focusing on experience, not just food, we’ve created a place where you truly feel like you’re in a fairy tale. For the children, there is a world of discovery in and around the restaurant, while parents can enjoy a carefree day out. When can we welcome you?
The Barefoot Path is a surprising route that takes you over various surfaces at recreation farm De Sternhof in Zeewolde. Feel what it’s like to walk barefoot on a range of textures such as grass, wood, mud, a wobbly bridge, and gravel. The path winds through a flower garden, a labyrinth, an organic vegetable garden, and over the grassy maze.
The path is approximately 2000 meters long, and the walk takes about an hour. Along the way, you can relax on one of the high swing benches that line the path.
Walking barefoot is delightful, liberating, and a healthy, playful way to experience nature!
